Cramer

Cramer, the Norwood, Massachusetts brand experience agency behind work for Google, Vimeo, Siemens Healthineers and Dassault Systèmes, brought me in as their WordPress engineer to build madrigalpatientsupport.com, the patient support program site for Madrigal Pharmaceuticals' Rezdiffra, from Figma to a regulated, FDA-reviewed production launch.

Key Takeaways

  • Built a regulated pharmaceutical site from detailed Figma designs to production launch inside a fixed medical-review window.
  • Delivered a deliberately framework-free theme, PHP, SCSS and vanilla JavaScript with no build-chain dependencies, appropriate for a property that must stay maintainable under compliance review for years.
  • Served two audiences from one codebase: patient and healthcare-professional experiences with separate navigation, safety information, footers and type systems.
  • Integrated Veeva Vault for the field-representative lookup, with request handling built to be diagnosable and safe in a regulated environment.
  • Moved content into the CMS module by module, with hard-coded fallbacks so a regulated page can never render blank.
  • Wrote the succession plan into the product: in-repo documentation rendered as an admin page, covering architecture, conventions and onboarding for the client's own engineers.

Organization

Cramer is a B2B brand experience agency headquartered in Norwood, Massachusetts, with published client work including Google, Vimeo, Siemens Healthineers, Dassault Systèmes, Medidata and CyberArk. Cramer Health is its life sciences arm. The end client was Madrigal Pharmaceuticals, and the property was madrigalpatientsupport.com, the digital front door for Madrigal Patient Support and Rezdiffra (resmetirom), the first FDA-approved treatment for MASH.

Challenge

Every line of copy on a pharma property passes medical, legal and regulatory review. Every page carries a material approval job code, safety information must be present and reachable at all times, and the build had to land inside a fixed review window while serving patients and healthcare providers as distinct audiences from one theme.

Solution

  • A 32-layout ACF flexible-content system, each layout with its own template partial, styles and field configuration, covering everything from enrollment flows and coverage maps to safety information and modals.
  • Dual-audience architecture with the patient and HCP experiences fully separated where regulation and design required it.
  • A Veeva Vault integration for rep lookup, returning results into the enrollment flow and logging failures in full for diagnosis.
  • Transactional email done properly for a pharma recipient domain: authenticated sending, templated notifications, and CMS-managed recipients.
  • Regulated-content plumbing throughout: trademark handling, references and citations, job-code fields with inline admin editing, and superscript controls in the editor.
  • A URL restructure with a complete redirect map, and documentation delivered in the repository, in the admin and in the client's own records.

Results

  • Launched through FDA medical review on schedule.
  • Roughly 90% of routine content edits handled by the marketing team without a developer.
  • 8 to 16 developer hours a month recovered per release cycle.
  • Additional Cramer client work awarded mid-build on the strength of the delivery.
